Style: Scandinavian Modern Serenity
Project Overview The Marrasem 1 project is a tribute to the “Hygge” philosophy—creating a space that radiates cozy contentment and functional minimalism. This Scandinavian Modern kitchen was designed to be a calm, light-filled sanctuary, utilizing a soft, nature-inspired palette and organic textures to provide a sense of spaciousness and modern elegance. It is a perfect example of how a kitchen can feel both high-end and deeply welcoming.
Design in Details
The Challenge The primary goal was to create a modern aesthetic that avoided the “cold” feeling often associated with minimalist designs. The client sought a space that felt organic and warm, requiring a delicate balance between different materials—specifically wood, paint, and stone. Furthermore, we needed to integrate specialized vertical textures without overwhelming the visual simplicity of the room.
The Engineering Solution We achieved a balanced, rhythmic design by utilizing a dual-material cabinetry system. The upper units feature bespoke vertical slatted Oak, providing an organic texture that draws the eye upward and adds warmth. This is paired with base cabinets in a soft, matte Sage Green—a sophisticated choice that brings the outdoors in. The Flat Panel (slab) doors maintain a clean, uninterrupted profile that is central to the Scandi aesthetic.
The workspace is defined by honed engineered Quartz, featuring subtle beige veining that provides the look of natural marble with the high-performance durability of modern stone. To anchor the design with a contemporary edge, we selected elongated “Matte Black” bar pulls, creating a sharp contrast against the soft green cabinetry. The lighting strategy was meticulously planned to enhance the calm atmosphere: a modern cage-style pendant serves as a dining focal point, while concealed LED strips and recessed cabinet lighting provide a soft, diffused glow that highlights the natural oak grain and ensures a functional, shadow-free prep area.
